No more salad for me.
Lydya, one of our African food vendors for Celebrate Lincoln just stopped by the office to drop off her application for this year’s festival. It’s always such a joy to see her.
Lydya is a Kenya native, but has been living in Nebraska since June 2007. Besides being a *phenomenal* cook, Lydya also has a 2-year-old running around. She is attending classes to become a medical assistant and must be just plain exhausted! Once again, she amazes me with her hard work, determination and constant smile. She’s just what I needed today and her little one is also the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.
Check out an article the Lincoln Journal Star wrote about Lydya and her cooking last year:
Vendors will offer something for everyone at Celebrate Lincoln
I am more than a little excited about all the food we’re going to have at Celebrate Lincoln. If you know me, you know I get pretty excited about food in general - but most especially food I can only find once a year. No, I can’t tell you about it yet, but soon. I promise. The food vendor applications have been coming in and the deadline is this Friday. If you know of anyone whose food is the bomb-diggity or is looking to open a restaurant someday, direct them here so we can all get a taste of greatness!
I’ll try just about anything once - I’ve had crocodile, kangaroo, cold breaded pork skin, and tongue soup. What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever tried?
Cheers,
Frances
