“Always make your future brighter than your past”

There’s no debate that Updowntowners has had a bright past. The grassroots history of the organization that rose up more than 25 years ago was a direct result of passionate community-minded volunteers. Not only did they produce great events, they had a blast doing it. We carry on this mindset today.

Updowntowners are progressive thinkers. They haven’t let obstacles stand in the way of their vision. Thus, past leaders have set the organization up for success. Passion is the strong foundation on which the group is built. That – and kooky, out-of-the-ordinary volunteers that insist on battling extreme weather to produce an event. Call me crazy, but these are the kind of people I want to spend my time with.

We’d be foolish not to follow in our predecessors footsteps and take a good, hard look at where we’ve been and what the future holds for us. That is why, after much thoughtful planning, Updowntowners staff (meaning Deb & I) are launching a new event planning arm of Updowntowners. This should be an easy transition, with virtually no change from a membership perspective.

We figure that with all our event knowledge and that of our members, we can help businesses and organizations plan special events such as company parties, forums, luncheons and symposiums. With our experience, we’ll be able to streamline their planning and create a memorable, unique event for our clients. We are very excited about this new opportunity to generate income, while making people’s lives a little easier. In doing so, we hope to lighten the financial burden of our other annual community events. If you would like to learn more about our venture, we have details on our website.

I sincerely hope that you are as excited about this new opportunity as we are. With this new event planning endeavor, we hope to make the future a bright one for Updowntowners.

Thanks for reading,

Frances
